Job Description

Postdoctoral positions in Cancer Research

San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy

Two Postdoctoral positions are immediately available to join the Cancer Metabolism Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Simone Cardaci at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan (Italy).

Job description:

We invite applications for two projects funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) and the Italian Ministry of Health aimed at:

  1. identifying metabolic vulnerabilities in tumours driven by mitochondrial defects;
  2. studying metabolic regulation of anti-tumour immune responses.

By identifying metabolic reprogramming essential for sustaining proliferative capacity of malignant cells and corrupting anti-tumour immune responses, our research aims at revealing novel and effective therapeutic targets for the improved treatment of cancer patients.

Research activity will be based at the Division of Genetics and Cell Biology within the San Raffaele Scientific Institute, a forefront biomedical research campus in Italy (http://research.hsr.it/en/ospedale-san-raffaele/intro.html). You will work in a collaborative and expanding research group and benefit from the access to state of-the-art research facilities. Salary, available for up 3 years, will be negotiated based on candidate qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

We are looking for two highly motivated and proactive candidates committed to build a successful research career in academia.

Candidates must hold a PhD in any field relevant to cancer biology and have published (or submitted) at least one research paper as main author. Both positions benefit from expertise in a wide range of cellular and molecular biology techniques (e.g. cell transfection/infection techniques, Western Blotting, qPCR etc.). Additionally, position (b) requires strong hands-on experience with multicolour flow-cytometry and mouse biology.

Application details:

Please send a full CV, a brief letter of intent as well as contact details for two referees to Dr. Simone Cardaci (cardaci.simone@hsr.it). Interviews of shortlisted candidates will take place immediately until the positions are filled.
