The position of Research Specialist III, Flow Cytometry Technologist, is a specialized job that requires a candidate that can be trained to be proficient working with flow cytometry instrumentation, applications and data analysis.
The candidate will be required to perform highly complex testing and analysis on a regular basis. The candidate should be detail-oriented in order to perform the following tasks: (a) perform daily QC and monthly instrument maintenance; (b) maintain laboratory records; (c) keep an inventory of supplies; (d) order supplies. In addition, the candidate should possess problem-solving skills and initiative to work with the variety of investigators and perform the following: (a) run samples and collect data for investigators by operating the facility's flow cytometers; (b) meet with and discuss experimental design and application. Candidate will be expected to evolve as a flow cytometrist, being trained to operate the MoFlo Astrios high-speed cell sorter.
This position will provide a service for UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and other clients as well as perform research associated with the advancement of flow cytometry. Due to the nature of many research projects, the candidate must be flexible with hours and may be asked to work shifts outside of the standard 8:30-5 work day. Degree in Life Sciences preferred. Starting annual salary range is $23,868 to $37,752, depending on experience and credentials.
