We are looking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and motivated full-time Research Assistant (Salary Range Research Assistant: £26,715 - £30,942) to join the group of Dr Catherine Wilson, Department of Pharmacology, University of Cambridge (https://www.phar.cam.ac.uk/research/Wilson).
Our work has demonstrated that low levels of transcriptional machinery are a barrier preventing Myc transcriptional activation and cellular proliferation in cardiomyocytes. We have established models in which expression and/or activity of Myc can be rapidly and reversibly switched in the heart and we now seek a research technician to assist these studies. We aim to test the feasibility of stimulating cardiomyocyte proliferation as a novel treatment for the infarcted adult mouse heart.
The Research Assistant position will provide scientific and research support within the Wilson Lab. You will support experimental work across the lab and have the opportunity to develop your skills in a number of areas including molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, histology, microscopy, transcriptomics and laboratory management.
The successful candidate should have at least a BSc in the biological, biochemical or biomedical sciences and must have some experience of animal research. Experience of molecular and cellular biology and holding a Home Office Personal Licence are desirable. Candidates are expected to be collaborative, good communicators, have attention to detail, be organised and to work effectively as part of a team.
