Job Summary Statement:
Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, Staff Research Associate serves as the lead researcher and independently conducts research projects to investigate gene editing in murine hematopoietic stem cell transplant models.
SRA will perform a variety of laboratory research techniques, including: maintenance of mouse colonies of specific gene knock-out strains, collection of bone marrow from donor mice, irradiation of recipient mice, transplantation of bone marrow into mice, blood sampling and vaccinations at indicated time points, euthanasia of mice at completion of in-life observations, collection of tissues from mice after euthanasia.
SRA will perform a variety of analytic techniques, including assays of DNA and RNA by PCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR, preparation of libraries for next-generation sequencing; assays of proteins by Western blots and HPLC; assays of blood cells, including staining with multiple monoclonal antibodies and multi-color flow cytometry; immunological assays, including ELISA assays for specific antibodies and in vitro cell culture. Incumbent will also be responsible for contributing to experimental design and for performing data recording and analyses.
SRA will also oversee study-related research work of lab trainees and junior staff, ensuring proper training for correct techniques and safe lab practices.
