We are seeking to appoint a new Lectureship (Assistant Professor equivalent) in the Department of Infectious Diseases at King's College London. Located on the Guy's Hospital Campus of King's College London in the centre of London, this post offers exciting opportunities to establish a research group in an internationally recognised centre of excellence in the molecular basis of the pathogenesis of infectious diseases, where current areas of focus include HIV/AIDS, emerging viruses, the cell biology viral assembly, host/bacterial interactions, vaccines, viral vector-mediated therapy for human disease, and the clinical epidemiology of hospital acquired infections. Facilities include access to state-of-the-art genomics, proteomics, imaging and flow cytometry, as well as biosafety level 3 laboratory suites compliant with Schedule 5 ATSC. Outstanding opportunities for translational research are offered through the Biomedical Research Centre and our Academic Health Sciences Centre, King's Health Partners.

It is anticipated that your research interests will complement the Department's and School's current strengths in viral and bacterial pathogenesis. We welcome applications from researchers from other disciplines who wish to apply their cutting-edge knowledge, technologies or model systems to the fields of human infection. The successful applicant will have an outstanding record of research accomplishment and innovation, combined with a commitment to supporting undergraduate and postgraduate education, and a strong desire to join a multi-disciplinary hub of academic excellence. We are particularly keen to attract applicants with the following interests: emerging viral or bacterial pathogens; high-throughput genetic and proteomic studies to understand host/pathogen interactions; animal models of microbial pathogenesis; identification and characterization of novel targets for antimicrobial therapeutics and vaccination. Applicants must have a PhD or medical equivalent.
