Duties and Responsibilities

The UCL Cancer Institute is the hub for cancer research at University College London, one of the World's leading universities. The Institute draws together over 300 talented scientists who are working together to translate research discoveries into developing better, more effective treatments to improve outcomes for cancer patients.

The Flow Cytometry Core Facility at the UCL Cancer Institute is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Flow Cytometry Manager to manage and provide long-term strategic development for the facility, which is equipped with the latest cutting-edge instrumentation and is staffed by two Flow Cytometry Technicians.

The Flow Cytometry Core Facility Manager will be responsible for the management, smooth and efficient operation, coordination, further technology development and finances of the Facility. They will be expected to use a variety of flow and mass cytometry-based applications and to develop flow and mass cytometry workflows to facilitate research in the Cancer Institute.

Key Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have a PhD, or equivalent post-graduate experience in a relevant subject, and extensive experience of managing a flow cytometry facility.
  • Extensive experience in managing laboratory-based research with an interest in flow cytometry and cross platform technologies, a proven record of research projects using flow cytometry and hybrid technologies by publishing in peer reviewed journals, and significant experience in running a Flow Cytometry Core Facility are essential.
  • A Proven track record of strategic facility administration management and previous experience of working on research projects in a relevant field is desirable.
