The IPF-Institute of Biofunctional Polymer Materials is looking for a highly motivated PostDoc
40 hours/week to work on the project “CHIPIN - Tissue-engineering the tumour microenvironment to improve treatment of pancreatic cancer” .
The research program is placed in the Institute of Biofunctional Polymer Materials, which focuses The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) is one of the largest polymer research institutions in Germany, with 5 departments and over 470 employees. The research program is placed in the Institute of Biofunctional Polymer Materials, which focuses on matrix engineering, cell-material and host-material reactions, stimuli-responsive nanomaterials, biomolecular devices and oncomechanics.
We are looking for a PostDoc to work on engineering a microfluidic device to study the cellular and molecular interactions within the fluidic tumour microenvironment, with a focus on the metastatic cascades of pancreatic cancer. The postdoctoral researcher will help lead efforts as part of the PI’s recently funded ERC Consolidator Grant “CHIPIN”. The project involves 3D approaches that mimic the matrix dynamics, tissue composition and biomechanical properties of patient tumours and their application as metastatic models and for drug discovery. The research involves organ-on-a-chip models, dynamic 3D cocultures and state-of-the-art biofabrication techniques.
We are looking forward to receive applications from highly motivated scientists. Applicants should hold a master in bioengineering, biotechnology, materials science, or a related field, as well as a PhD in this scientific area, with a record of peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals. Applicants should have a documented expertise in tissue engineering, microfluidic devices, additive manufacturing and cell culture. Applicants should have the legal right to work in the EU. The scientist in this position is expected to work independently but collaboratively with other team members and other research groups. Well-developed planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks, setting and meeting deadlines are essential. Good communication skills for scientific writing and discussions and proficiency in English are mandatory.
