Dr. Dhruv Sareen is currently seeking a Research Associate II to assist with research projects in regenerative medicine and disease modeling, such as development of stem cell differentiation methods, bioprinting, and gene editing. 

Day-to-day duties include lab maintenance responsibilities like tracking, ordering, and stocking supplies in addition to research tasks including cell culture, RNA/Protein extraction, quantitative PCR, flow cytometry, Western blotting, immunocytochemistry, fluorescent microscopy, and high-content imaging. Participation in laboratory meetings, keeping laboratory notebooks, performing calculations, tabulating data, summarizing methods and results of related experiments will be required. In addition, the RAII will prepare chemical solutions and culture media, maintain general lab cleanliness, and perform other work-related duties as assigned.

75% - Research-related duties:

  • stem cell culture, including generation of stem cell lines, maintenance, expansion, banking
  • PCR, quantitative PCR, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry 
  • stem cell differentiation, primarily differentiation into neural tissue
  • compound screening, western blotting

25% - General lab maintenance: 

  • Unpack and shelve supplies
  • Prepare chemical solutions and maintain bench supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Information:

  • Occasional weekend attendance is required based on experiment timing needs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required

Educational Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in biological science or a related field


  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a biology research setting required
  • Prior cell culture experience and knowledge of aseptic techniques highly preferred
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics or a willingness to learn bioinformatic techniques
