Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Immunology (3 posts)

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Immunology to join the group led by Professor Gavin Screaton and Dr Juthathip Mongkolsapaya at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.

You will work on an exciting and well-funded research project on dengue and Zika virus. Both viruses are mosquito borne diseases of tropical and subtropical countries where they cause a considerable healthcare burden. You will be involved in a broadly based research program covering a number of aspects of Dengue and Zika immunology, and vaccine development.

  • You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion), together with relevant experience
  • You will have the knowledge of regulations in biomedic research and data handling; knowledge of immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry and knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures
  • You will also have practical experience in a broad range of techniques including cellular immunology, molecular biology or virology, protein chemistry, and murine models
  • You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work independently as well as in a team and to manage the day-to-day running of a research project
  • It is also essential that you have commitment to high standards, including record keeping and laboratory management
  • Being computer literate with a good knowledge of different computer programmes with experience in data presentation and statistical analyses is also essential.
