Summary

The Cytometry and Cell Sorting Core at Baylor College of Medicine is looking for a highly motivated individual to be part of the High Parameter Cytometry Unit. The Mass Cytometry Specialist will be responsible for operating the Helios Mass Cytometer and its associated Hyperion Imaging System. This person will be responsible for the QA/QC of the instrument, troubleshooting, operations, interaction with service engineers and developing SOPs. Finally, he/she will be cross-trained for use of all multiparametric analyzers for validation of antibody conjugation.

The Mass Cytometry Specialist is a team-player who welcomes challenges. The position requires experience in Immunology, Oncology, or a related field and with a preferred three years of related experience. Experience with multiparametric cytometry and experience with large data-sets is preferred. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting ongoing academic and preclinical research in immuno-oncology using the Helios and Hyperion system. The incumbent will be responsible for the mass cytometry acquisition portion of the developed High Parameter Cytometry pipeline.

Job Duties

  • Creates and Validates Mass Cytometry SOPs
  • Works with Cytometry Antibody Scientist to help produce, QA/QC and maintain the High Parameter Cytometry Antibody banks
  • Assits in establishing OMIPS relevant to institutional needs
  • Works with the High Parameter Cytometry team at CCSC to develop and streamline analytical approaches for mass cytometry experiments.
  • Works with CCSC users to acquire data for mass cytometry projects.
  • Works with CCSC staff to operate and maintain Helios and Hyperion.
  • Produce larger data-sets for CCSC users generated from mass cytometry experiments.
  • Collaborates with leaders in the fields of Immunology, Oncology and Cancer Biology including the members of the Dan L Dun can Cancer Center PI’s.
  • Prepares data for publications and/or presentation.
  • Prepares method sections and review result interpretation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology,chemical, biological, physical science or related field.
  • One year of relevant experience.
