Department of Biomedicine (DBM) of the University of Basel and University Hospital Base, Switzerland

The Department of Biomedicine (DBM) of the University of Basel and University Hospital Basel promotes integrated research in biomedical research within the four focal areas immunology, oncology, stem cell biology & regenerative medicine, and neurobiology. The DBM provides a stimulating environment with state-of-the-art core facilities, enabling biomedical research of the highest quality. The Flow Cytometry Facility provides all DBM researchers with access to high-end cell sorters and analyzers, supporting a broad range of basic and clinical research projects. To join our Flow Cytometry Facility team we seek an Expert in Cell Sorting and Flow Cytometry (100%)

Your position

  • Hands-on operation of multi-laser, high-speed cell sorters (currently 1 BD Influx and 4 BD FACSAria) and supervision of user-operated BD FACSMelody
  • Active, hands-on work in a team of 4 Core Facility operators
  • Instruction and supervision of users operating flow analyzers (4 BD LSRFortessa, 6 BC Cytoflex, 3 Cytek Aurora, 1 ImageStream)
  • Providing expert advice in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results
  • Keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies and new applications

Your profile

  • Several years of hands-on experience and expertise in high end sorting with a variety of cell types and experimental systems (experience with FACSAria required; experience with BD Influx is a plus)
  • Candidates with or without a PhD will be considered
  • A flexible schedule and effective organization skills are mandatory
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain good relationships with DBM researchers are essential
  • The candidate should be self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
